The Museum of Art + Light has selected Cuseum’s Digital Membership platform to support its unique blend of technology, education, and the arts. With this move, the museum joins other forward-thinking institutions like the Don Harrington Discovery Center, ICA Miami, and the Baltimore Museum of Art that are shifting to mobile-based membership experiences tailored to today’s audiences.
A New Kind of Museum, Built on Imagination and Equity
The Museum of Art + Light isn’t a traditional art institution. From its very foundation, it was designed to challenge expectations—merging immersive digital installations with fine art, performance, and education. Founded by a group of educators, developers, and art collectors, MoA+L was created to serve as both a museum and a platform for creative exploration.
The team behind the museum includes figures from across the arts and education landscape, including the publishers of The Master Teacher, seasoned philanthropists, and national leaders in arts access. Their shared mission: build a space that would incite positive emotion, foster curiosity, and make art more approachable for everyone.
Situated in Manhattan, Kansas, the museum occupies one hundred thousand square feet of newly constructed and renovated space. It offers rotating immersive exhibitions, traditional displays, and live programming—often aimed at students, young audiences, and those new to contemporary art. MoA+L was one of the first institutions in the United States to make digital and sensory art central to its identity from day one. Its founding values—equity, experimentation, and access—inform every decision, from exhibit design to the way it builds community partnerships.
Membership That Reflects the Mission
Through our Digital Memberships, MoA+L ensures that its members have immediate access to their benefits from their phones. No plastic cards to carry or replace. Members receive alerts for renewals, invitations to special events, and updates on exhibitions—all delivered through their mobile wallet. For an institution that puts digital engagement at the center of its programming, the decision to offer membership in the same spirit was a natural one.
Practical and Purpose-Driven
This shift does more than reduce printing and mailing—it reinforces MoA+L’s broader mission. Moving to a fully digital system means less waste, lower operating costs, and more time focused on programming and public outreach. Members benefit from faster communication and more consistent access to their perks, while the museum strengthens its connection with an audience that expects immediacy and mobility.
One of the museum’s founders noted, “We’re here to meet people where they are—creatively and practically. A digital-first membership makes that possible every day.”
