Cuseum CEO to Speak at Harvard Business School

hello@cuseum.com · February 4, 2017

Cuseum’s CEO & Founder will speak on a panel at Harvard Business School on February 6th!

Brendan’s talk will focus on the inspiration behind Cuseum, challenges encountered along the way, and advice for anyone looking to launch an arts-related business! Additionally, he’ll speak about the role of museums in society and how technology can enhance the way we experience art.

Other panelists include Dan Hermann and Sean McGrail, Co-Founders of Paint Nite and Liz Powers, Founder of ArtLifting.

The panel brings together founders working at the intersection of art, technology, and entrepreneurship — a space that's often overlooked in traditional startup conversations. Each panelist has built a business that takes the cultural sector seriously as a market while also caring deeply about its mission, and that combination is something Harvard's MBA students don't always get to hear about firsthand.

Brendan plans to share the early story behind Cuseum, including the lessons learned from working with museums of every size — from small historical societies to some of the largest institutions in the country. He'll talk about why the cultural sector is ripe for thoughtful technology, the unique challenges of selling into mission-driven organizations, and the importance of building products that respect both the visitor and the curator.

The discussion will also explore broader questions: how can technology deepen, rather than dilute, the museum experience? What role do digital tools play in expanding access to art? And how can entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses while contributing to cultural and civic life?

If you're a student, founder, or anyone curious about building at the intersection of art and technology, the conversation should offer a candid look at what it takes to build a company in this space.
